Top Judicial Official the presiding justice said the action to imprison the elderly politician was a preventative measure after fresh information came to light.
This involved attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a invitation to a public vigil that could facilitate a chance to flee".
Legal Document Reveals Escape Concerns
In a filing authorising the detention, the judge said information from the centre monitoring his home detention suggested the ex-president's "intention to break the tracking monitor to ensure success in his escape.
This, it said, would be "facilitated by the chaos caused by the protest called by his offspring.
His son, Flávio, who works as a congressional representative, called for a meeting of his supporters near the former president's residence to take place on Saturday night.
Flávio Bolsonaro wrote on social media on last Friday: Will you battle for your nation, or observe everything from your smartphone there on your couch? I call on you to fight with us."
He said the gathering would be so supporters could "pray for his well-being and for the reestablishment of democratic governance in our country."
Diplomatic Refuge Fears

The judicial paperwork highlights that the US embassy in the federal district, Brazil's capital, is situated around 8 miles from his dwelling.
Worldwide Consequences

Recent Legal Requests
It was only on the previous day that the his legal team asked the Top Court to authorize him to serve his whole jail sentence under home confinement, with tracking devices.

Details of Guilty Verdict
Bolsonaro was found guilty of orchestrating a scheme aimed at retaining his authority after he was defeated in the presidential race to his ideological adversary, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Supreme Court justices said that he had knowledge of a plan which included plans to murder his opponent and his VP candidate, Alckmin, and to detain and kill the presiding judge - the High Court judge who has been overseeing Bolsonaro's trial.
The scheme was stopped because it failed to get the support of the army and air force commanders. The current president was sworn in without issue on the first day of 2023.
But a following week, on 8 January, many Bolsonaro supporters invaded and destroyed government buildings in the federal district, the capital city.
The law enforcement stepped in and around 1,500 people were arrested.
The judges found that the rioters had been encouraged by Bolsonaro whose strategy, they said, was for the country's army to take action, bring back stability and bring him back to power.
At the period, Bolsonaro's lawyers called the decades-long sentence "absurdly excessive.
He was also banned from seeking elected position until 2060 - eight years after the end of his sentence.
The one-time head of state called the legal proceedings a "witch hunt and said it was intended to stop him running in the 2026 national vote.
